Re: old Selni motor?
Dear Steve and Kwatt,
thanks very much for taking the time to reply and explore solutions. Apologies for the slow response on my part – I’ve been in Snowdonia and out of the reach of internet access all week.
I’ll try to get in touch with a local recycler but have got the message that this is a long shot. I’d thought about welding the bracket or even drilling/tapping a supporting bracket alongside the original but I wonder if the motor detachment is a symptom of something else (bad shock absorbers?) so perhaps it is simply time to quit.
I thought it was a shame to quit at the first sign of trouble when old Selni motors are two a penny on every street corner, but clearly this is not the case.
Anyway, sincere thanks for replying. This really is a great site.
JimC.
PS for the record, Dave Conway also replied to me incredibly quickly and can get hold of a replacement motor at a very reasonable price. I’m going to look again at the machine and decide whethre its worth pursuing.
