Thanks gents…..ordered a new seal just to be safe.
Will just mean a short delay in re-assembly but i would rather only do it once

You my friend, pass THE test
LOL, no…i was going to go on a desperate plea for answers prior to taking the machine apart, had planned on playing the “last month the Miele fridge, now this” line. I updated it when I made THE finding but forgot the name.
LG….correct.
Completely dismantled tonight. Quite easy actually.
Quick question, is it essential to replace the seal between the two halves of the outer drum with a new one or will the old one suffice?
Cheers

Quick update…..while the fridge is broken, here is a sound of the pump starting, stopping and then after a while, the relay “plink”…

Further update, fridge has failed again….red light on permanently and fridge temp has climbed to 8 even though it is set at 3.
Sitting here in the quiet (kids out…lol) its plain to hear what happens.
Quite frequently, I hear the pump starting and it runs for about 3-4 seconds, lets out a little rattle (sounds like wobbling on its rubber bases) and stops…..about 6-10 seconds after that, I hear a relay making a “plink” noise and that’s it for a while.
Seems like the pump isn’t getting a chance to cool anything tbh.

Ok, Miele engineer just left……..puzzled.
Of course the fridge is working now but he did note the pump cutting out for thermal reasons, trying to work out why.
I remembered something and pointed it out to him…..might be nothing…..but we noted the interior light flash on and of and on again when the door is opened. Normally I would have thought a simple reed switch fault but it occurred to me that the fan also gets switched off when the door is opened, so this must be controller logic rather than an on/off thing. This behaviour all stopped JUST before we noticed the failure of cooling.
The engineer is going to order a controller board just in case but does this sound plausible?

I do indeed buddy…..we originally set out for a Liebherr but I honestly preferred the look of this one.
Its sitting running now and the fridge temp hasn’t climbed above 19 degrees :/
The freezer isn’t frozen either, just cool…..I only occasionally hear the pump knocking and rattling when it starts and stops.
gut feeling?

Hi Bryan,
Appreciate the response and I understand.
I have tried a complete defrost over the past few days, moreso out of good practice but upon starting it, the motor is turning on and off quite frequently with a judder when it does.
I also hear a relay pinging quite frequently.
We have bitten the bullet and arranged for a Miele engineer to call tomorrow.
I will report back with their findings in case it helps someone else

Ahh…..Ok bud, thanks for clarifying. I only thought they were one shots as they looked like it. Shouldn’t have assumed 🙂
So all of those stats should show continuity then?

ParticipantRe: Bosch SGV53E03GB/70 not draining
Alright…..pulled the filter/pump assembly to pieces and disconnected the drain hose.
It certainly wasn’t blocked at the sink side but i blew it through anyway.
No particularly big blockages to note but some brown water/crud…nothing hard.
Could an air lock in the drain pipe cause this behaviour or is the drain pump powerful enough to push through that?
Forced the pump to run a few times with the door open and it drained fine and flushed it through with real hot water.
Reassembled and ran a hot wash and everything drained fine afterwards.
It did this before and then failed again after a couple of washes so i will keep an eye and update here in a couple of days.
The wee sump pump churns away happily and there is certainly no problem with the main pump as i happily discovered with the door open….lol….
Are intermittent problems likely with the pumps or is that more control panel-ey?
Anyhoo….hopefully, that could be it sorted.
Thanks

LOL Martin…..
Close….I’m from Belfast…..close in spirt and soul to Scots though 🙂
I will do exactly as you say tonight mate as the prospect of replacing this as well as the washing machine (which is arriving tomorrow) fills my pants with brown

Hi Martin,
Thanks for your quick reply.
Yeah, I should have put that in my post.
I have already pulled all of the filters and given them a good scrubbing.
I also emptied the bottom of the washer and mopped up the excess.
I then removed the cover (one torx screw) and checked that the impeller was not stuck. I took the opportunity while dry to vacuum out a few bits of food that were there but there was nothing serious such as glass etc.
I also pulled the wee rubber valve and cleaned that……while doign this, a load of stinky water pissed back in but I assume that was normal and why the valve was there.
After I did that, we also put one of those cleaner things in and ran a scorcing wash to see if any crap needed flushed through.
It seemed to do a couple of ok washes after that but the problem returned.
So, a wee bit stumped and concerned too.
We tried to run it this morning even though the base of the washer was full but it just didnt seem right. The water never drained and you could hear a pump startign and stopping constantly at the start of the wash.
🙁

Really? That is quite surprising. It really does feel a step above the other brands like hotpoint, hoover etc etc.
