FIXED A bit embarrassing this one, the new drain pump fixed the problem but would not run correctly. The reason was my son stripped the machine and I got involved when the new pump didn’t work. Having got the machine stripped he had removed and cleaned the plastic accumulator on the side of the machine. We experimented to see if the pump would work with a half stripped machine and got nothing but 3 pulses. The reason being a short breather pipe had not been refitted to the accumulator and it would not allow a syphon effect to take place on the outlet pipe so the pump would do nothing but pulse 3 times. I am afraid it took a local tradesman to spot the problem and rebuilt the machine and all works fine. Although a new pump was fitted I tinkered with the old pump and found a dry solder joint on the small PCB supplying the motor windings and re-soldered all 3 joints. I know it works because we retried it before the breather pipe was refitted and it also pulsed 3 times like the new pump and ran properly external to the machine.

I know it was family but always strip a machine on your own!!!Thank you Dave, it does seem strange that there is so little on this problem up here on the net about codes for this machine. Having spent 45 years in the motor trade I do know OBD codes have to be published by law but manufacturers codes which are far more relevant they hold tight to their chest unless you part with a lot of money. I have a list of codes for this machine but does any one know whether you need a diagnostic device to extract them or is there a button sequence to use and read blink codes??? I may have to look into those American manuals.
Once I realised the new pump had the same symptoms I left it in place after a rinse cycle, Then connected the old pump electrical plug with the pump sitting on the ground and cycled off-on the pump pumped continuously for approx. 40-50 seconds as if it were emptying the machine it had no load and made me wonder about the exit pipes being blocked or even the accumulator. I have had all of them out and cleaned them. I have had the pump out and put a tube up the exit tube, there is a one way flap valve in the base unit I assume to stop dirty water running back after pumping, a volume of water did flow back when pushed past but everything is clear as a whistle. I would guess an electrical overload mechanism is built into the control board in case a piece of glass or debris get’s caught in the pump and this may be the fault that it has become over sensitive???
