ParticipantThanks for the reply, all connections were good, so I have regrettably opted for a new machine…not a washer drier this time though!!!!

ParticipantThanks for the reply, and sorry for my slow response. There have been no fault codes showing on the machine, but now the machine is dead! Tried it on a 60c wash for some towels, but ended up having to stop the machine mid-cycle due to the amount of steam coming out…eventually the door lock released (even though it was still full of boiling hot water!) and I got it all emptied. I have now changed the ‘water temp sensor’ and all seemed to be going ok on a 30c wash, until the end of the wash cycle, then ‘ALL’ the lights went off…but it carried on with the rinsing, after a while like this it stopped….no noises…no lights…full of water!! I have now emptied the water again (no blockages in drain filter or pump), and left it unplugged for 1hr, when tried again all the lights come on for a couple of seconds then all stay off and door locks but nothing else happens and none of the buttons seem to do anything!!
Sorry if this is a bit long winded, I wanted to get in as much detail as possible so that hopefully someone can help me…although I think its gonna end up on the back a lorry with all the other scrap metal…!!

ParticipantRe: Change The Element On An Indesit FID20 ?
Sorry for the delay…just thought i’d update the good folk on here.
The problem turned out to be the selector switch…although this wasnt visible from the top. There was a TINY piece missing from the underside which was stopping the power from going through the rest of the circuit. Thanks for all the help.

ParticipantOk, thanks for the quick reply. I can get my brother in law to have a look (he’s a maintainence electrician and knows more than me about this sort of thing!!) Whats the best way to check these 2 components, are there any tell tale signs that they’ve gone??

ParticipantThe original one had a hole in it where it had blown, I tested the new one for continuity before and after I fitted it…although this was only with a 12v battery and very basic voltmeter…
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as i’m really looking forward to a roast dinner when its fixed!!jwatkins180
ParticipantRe: Change The Element On An Indesit FID20 ?
I know this is an old thread, but hopefully someone can help me. I had the same problem as above, but having now changed the element I am still having the same problem…everything appears to work but no heat in the oven, I did suspect the thermostat but the red light in control panel is staying on too. Does it make any difference that my oven is the ‘fidm20’ model?
Thank-you in advance for any help. -
