Thank you both for your replies. On closer inspection, it’s the plastic housing that has melted around the bottom of the spade connector. The wires look to be untouched. I imagine the thermostat is to blame and will need replaced. I will call an engineer out to be safe. I did check on the recall list but I’ll just check again.
