ParticipantAfter checking the pump area and giving the inner glass door a clean with a scouring pad having previously just used a cloth and glass cleaner, no leak today. Don’t know if it was just a lucky day.

ParticipantI’ve removed the kick plate from the bottom and checked the pump area, there’s a small plastic propeller blade which you can turn with your hands . No foreign objects there.
ive taken Dave’s advice and cleaned the inner glass door with a scouring pad.
i wonder what are the chances that the newly fitted door seal is in some way pushing on the inner glass door, creating just a tiny enough gap for water to get through? When the door is closed, if you push it with your hand there is a little bit of give ie you can push the door inwards very slightly and when you let go off the door it very slightly springs back.

ParticipantI will look the pump and filter. But with my own eyes I saw little water coming out, whilst the machine was rinsing. Water cascades on the inner glass door. Whilst cascading, a little water will trickle out from under the centre of the door at the bottom and runs down the front of machine and onto the floor.
i don’t think the water comes out when the machine is spinning.

ParticipantThe machine still leaks.
the machine leaks during the rinse stage of a programme as I watched it happen During the rinse stage of a programme the machine rinses the clothes from the 3 directions, the bottom, the back and lastly by showering water from above. The latter involves spraying the inner glass of the washing machine door with water. It’s during this showering that water trickles out and runs down the front of the machine.
any ideas?

https://ibb.co/ZxtJKkyyou can see how well I’ve cleaned the area.
will report back to tomorrow at some point, after running a wash programme

ParticipantThank you Dave
don’t think that area has even been cleaned in almost 19 years since the machine was purchased but gave everything a good clean with a glass cleaner and a cloth. Dirt certainly came off.
I think you you are suggesting dirt is getting caught between the rubber seal and the glass door, so little water gets through?

The washing machine is leaking again. See pictures in the link above showing the extent of the water on the floor when the programme has about finished.Water appears during the course of a wash programme to trickle down on the front of the machine from underneath the
Centre of the door. You can clearly see the staining on the front of the machine to indicate this.the door seal was replaced in January of this year, I’ve checked all around the seal and can see no rips or tears.

ParticipantTried the Bosch ordered bulbs tonight and they both worked. One bulb when screwed in came on straight away, the other didn’t and after fiddling with it, it came on.

when the old lamps went faulty did the filament just break or was there evidence of them going pop. I ask this because if a lamp goes with a pop its likely that the control board may have been damaged

I didn’t realise the fridge had 2 bulbs, so 1 was fused perhaps 12-18 months ago and I never realised. The 2nd bulb fused about 12 days ago. Don’t recall a popping sound. Just opened the fridge and darkness. Both fused bulbs were intact.
when I say the bulb is short, I mean the blue coloured glass part

in this review, sounds like one person had the same problem, and had a Philips bulb fitted to solve his problem

ordered the above part from Bosch, I’ve not tried it as yet as I had to collect from the local Royal Mail sorting office, I’ll try tonight.
the silver screw bits and the black nipple at each end do look the same. It’s just that the blue coloured end on one bulb (the fused one) is just a touch longer than the bulb I’ve just received from Bosch.
im not confident it will work, unless of course both bulb sockets inside the fridge need repairing.

If you hold the original bulb against the espares bulb, the original bulb is slightly longer in height.

ParticipantThank you dave
what about any of the Bosch WAT and Bosch WAW models?
what about Siemens ?

ParticipantI got a local repair person to have a look at the machine this morning.
he confirms that it needs a new door seal. We will likely get him to fit the part. Doesn’t make sense to scrap the machine as it still works etc.
His opinion was that Bosch ain’t as good as they used to be and he recommended buying a BEKO in terms of a new machine, which case as a great surprise!

ParticipantThank you for the reply.
So do you think that is the problem ? ie the 2 small tears in the above picture
