Not that I’ve noticed Dr Drill, as you say rarely missed!
Iadom, I put the new drum seal in just in case and left the rest alone as you suggested. I have done 4 loads now with no issues so it seems to be ok. 😀
Thank you all very much for your advice.

all that work for that!
So am I just being weak with the bolt at the back? Perhaps I should not mess with it now save having to replace the bearing sealKaz15

Hi Iadom.
I have almost completely stripped the machine and think I have found the problem! A piece of wire was wrapped around the heating element and obviously scraping on the outer surface of the metal washing drum. So not the bearings after all. I have attached a photo of the wire. Could this have come from inside the machine or is it likely to have made its way through the mesh from some washing? The diameter is small enough to have got through the grill.
However, I havent managed to get into the bearings and shaft yet. Should I be able to unscrew the bolt from the back of the drum? I have laid it on the drum opening with the bolt head facing unwards and my weight on the drive wheel but still can’t get it undone. I have sprayed it with WD40 and will try again, perhaps with a piece of pipe over my rachet handle! but just wanted to make sure Im not missing something. It wouldn’t be a left hand thread would it?
Many thanks again,
