I guess nobody providing a possible reason for this means the unit is FUBAR.

Would that be a faire assumption?

Whilst I have the thing out, is there anything else I should think about replacing or cleaning before putting it back in?

Re: Need to change heating element.

The element is split and according to my wife, was in flames.

She said it was bleeping so she opened it and cleared some debris from the filter, then after restarting it still bleeped.

On opening the door, she saw flames.

Guess what – The Indesit turned up today and the inside is exactly the same as the Matsui it replaces.

To make things worse, the Matsui started working as soon as I removed it.

    Groan.

Re: Matsui MFI45 dishwasher gone mad!

    No flashing, just bleeping.

It done this once before whilst it was under warrantee. The engineer said it was because we use 3 in 1 tablets and rinse aid. They don’t like that apparently.

I’m highly doubtful that that is the case. He was only there for a few seconds, so I suspect he done some sort of re-set.

What would you do to find the fault?

I tried calling Haier for support, but they were as unhelpful as Comet / Matsui.

Comet’s answer was to send an engineer for £129.00 plus parts plus VAT. I only paid £140.00 for it…….therein lies the nub!

    Update:

Found a download of the manual but there is no details on reset or beeping sounds, so any help much appreciated.
