Hi Dave,
A big THANKYOU for all your help. After moving the dishwasher and following the drainage tube I discovered that I had mistaken the washing machine drainage tube for the d/w drainage tube. I subsequently removed a mass of rice and gunk and the d/w now works. What I don’t understand is howcome the filter didn’t prevent this occuring?…
THANKS again,
kitkatkitkat

Thanks Dave, I think I’ll attempt to fix it at the weekend and I’m thinking I’d better order a pump because from looking at other posts the Smeg d/ws seem prone to pump failure at some point in their life, so it won’t go to waste if it’s a blocked filter. So could you kindly give me info re. ordering one.
Much appreciated as always,

ParticipantNo repairers in my area, London SW19, so I,ve gone ahead and ordered an element. On removal of the back panel (via big flat head screw) revealing element and fan in centre, I am unsure how to remove the element and would appreciaite a talk through. I conscientiously switch off at mains before any investigation.
Kind regards, kitkatkitkat
ParticipantThe element seems fine to me. Interestng observation: after I switched it back on, and I hadnt reset the clock, the oven light and fan did not come on. once I reset it, the light and fan came on with out the elemnt working. Also the alarm hasn’t been v audible recently! Could the non functioning of the element have anyhing to do with a faulty timer or am I barking up the wrong tree!
Thanks, kitkatkitkat
ParticipantThanks Penguin45,
I’ll have a look after lunch!
