    Some other options…

    Bosch WAE28469GB – Exxcel 7kg, 1400rpm, AAB, 2 year warranty – 362.99 (but is this a Spanish machine?)

Siemens WM14E162GB – 7kg, 1400rpm, AAB, 5 year warranty – 399.99 (once again are Siemens budget machines even made in Germany?)

There’s also a 7kg 1400rpm Panasonic with 4 year warranty for 368, but as mentioned above they’re a bit too new on the block.

Heh, no idea which direction to go! The ISE machines (or a Miele 6kg) look great, but can’t afford those.

Interesting read regarding the drum size.

But it seems all the Siemens machines are 7kg + and Bosch’s higher end machines (which may be built in Germany) are also 7kg +.

I’ve got a budget of around 500 (preferably under!), which 6-7kg machine would you recommend?

😆 Yep, great choice if you need a really heavy paperweight to use in a couple of years time when the module blows up or the drum weights disintegrate.

Out of the two you’ve given I’d go for the Siemens, because there simply aren’t enough Panny’s around for us to get a good idea on long-term reliability. BUT really I wouldn’t spend my money on the Siemens anyway. This is simply because as engineers we know that you can’t shove an 8kg drum onto domestic suspension with concrete counterweights and expect something that will last.

Really if I were you I’d either save myself some money and get a 6kg German Bosch that should last 8-9 years, or if you’re doing enough washing to make the 8kg drum worthwhile, splash out and invest in an ISE, which can do 8kg loads and will last you 20 years.

How can you tell whether it’s a German Bosch as opposed to a Spanish built one?
