ParticipantWell that didn’t last very long – the machine has started doing it again but not every cycle. It might be me but it does feel like it’s happens more on the heavier loads.

ParticipantI reassembled yesterday to do the weekend wash and I’ve had 3 loads on different programmes so far without any problems. Corrosion I’ve cleared, stuck relay, dry solder joint, carbon build up – not sure, but it’s going to be really difficult to track down an intermittent fault If it happens again I think I’ll start by reflowing the triac the soldering on the PCB in general was very poor and I’m assuming it was lead-free.
lardman
ParticipantTriac was close enough to the same with the polarity reversed.
7 Wires to the motor connector 2 red , 5 black. Only 6 connections on the motor itself.
1 and 2 – Red appears to be the taco – static they’re at 66Ohms and rise when the drum is turned.
3 and 5 – Inner winding – 2.5 Ohms
6 and 7 – Outer winding – 4.5 OhmsAll are OL to the ground post and 3/5 are OL to 6/7. Which I think is all correct or at least makes sense.
Any way to check the brushes / holders without access under the machine? Lifting or even tilting it is going to be a huge problem.

ParticipantThe triac reads fine, or at least what I think would be fine.
T1 – T2 = 1.95 megaohms
T1 – Gate = 74 ohms
T2 – Gate = 1.95 megaohmsSimilar results for the other one on the pcb. I can’t see anything else obvious on the board, there’s a little smutz around RV004 but nothing appears to be shorted. I’ll check the motor in a bit – the machine is in the worlds smallest utility room and there’s not a lot of space to work.

ParticipantFound a youtube and my glasses – Dismantled.
The main triac appears to be a btb10-800bw https://www.mouser.co.uk/datasheet/2/389/btb10-1156229.pdf

ParticipantMany thanks.
Any service manuals and schematics floating about? I’m more than comfortable with pcb level repair but I’d be happier knowing how to best to strip it down.

ParticipantFrom the vertical lights – None are on except the door lock.

I’ve replaced the element and the problem is still there. 3 beeps and red led about 15 minutes in. Things are getting hot (perhaps too hot for the cycle?) and water is in the drawer. I suspect the problems is after the element and I burnt the last one out.
Any other idea’s or it’s heading off to the tip.

Had to put this on the back burner but Im back at it now.
I’ve dropped out the heating unit and put the meter across it. I’ve got continuity between red and black but 100ohm resistance. Am I right in thinking this should be 50ish and it is faulty?
I can’t find the part on here but it’s listed elsewhere around £120 so Im keen on a second opinion.

Feel bad replying to myself but … 😉
I think I found diagnostics mode, whilst there I get 6 red flashes and then 3 orange flashes on the pause/start button, I don’t appear to be able to do anything else in there though?
I’ m guessing this is error 63 thermostat fault which is a new heater unit. Im happy enough to drop the back off and disconnect to test and get part numbers.
Does it sound like Im on the right track?

Just spoken with Zanussi – no help on the warranty, 12 months only. They want £130 for a callout but parts MAY be extra, the fixed fee isn’t fixed. :rolls: She did imply the fault was probably the controller. ❓
Can anyone tell me how to put it in diagnostic mode so I can find out just exactly what’s going on ? There’s no LED display or selection wheel on this model and I can’t find any info online.
I’m beginning to think I should have just bought cheaper and binned it when it went faulty.

try a timed dry cycleI don’t think there’s a timed cycle is there ? All I have are pre-programmed options, cotton, synthetic, mixed, wool etc. I’ve tried the “refresh”, “cotton” and synthetic options so far all appear to do the same. 15(ish) Mins in flashing red LED, 3 beeps. The drum turns freely, there are no funny smells and I’ve tried it on a different ring main.

cant think of an easy fix unless you use tumble dryer sheets that tend to coat sensors and cause problemsNope – nothing’s been in there but clothes. This afternoon it doesn’t appear to be drying at all, the clothes are wet, it doesn’t feel like there’s been any heat at all and the water tank is completely empty after a cycle.
