I did not mean to cause offence to anyone but my past experience I have felt ripped of by a repair man I understand the majority of engineers are honest individuals but one stung always wary and without a personal recommendation I cannot be sure I would find a good one so we are trying our best as with 2 young children money is tight, so I cannot afford to waste money.
He is technical but not a washing machine builder/repairman so obviously need some direction I thought this forum was to help everyone and if you can afford to pay an engineer you would not be on such a forum I thank the kind gentleman who offered some advise it was much appreciated

Thanks again for your replys the machine takes in water at the start of the cycle and spins but its at the end of the first set of spins in seems to stop and not do anything else but on cancelling it does drain fully (the draining motor sounds as it always has so I assume its not running slow) although it does not take very long only about a min if you just run the drain cycle it says it takes 2 mins its really more like 1 but I guess that could be as there is not that much water to drain away.
I will get him to have a look at those parts tonight and see if we can get any further forward

Thanks for the reply I have now narrowed the problem down it is definately starting cycles but not concluding any most it does is 2mins.
I would however prefer not to call someone as in my experience I have been overcharged with a ridiculous call out fee and overcharge to fit a new part, if we can determine which part is likely to need replacing I would rather buy that part and get my husband to fit, He is very technical including electronics.
Any input greatly appreciated 🙂
