Well, it took and impact driver to get the central pulley bolt out, something I havn’t used since I stripped a bike engine in ’85 (!). Taking the spider Torx bolts out was easy. Then I came to a dead halt. The spider is completely jammed into the rim of the s/s drum and if I applied any more leverage I would have punctured the drum. I tried hammering it tangentially, it wouldn’t move, even so much as to make re-insertion of the bolts difficult(!). I then spotted the wedge shaped shim, which seemed to maybe be the key to it all, but this will not move either-I actually broke a bit of this off. At this point I gave up, along with my now-fragile back and put it back together again. I’ll have to think again as to whether it is possible at all, I’m beginning to think it is too jammed solid to proceed further.

    Thank you,

I suspected I might have to rotate it (that’s the problem in such a small space. And then attack the spider Torx bolts (now difficult due to even less space. I’ll give it a go. Thanks again.
