    Re: Hotpoint EW74 Thermostat issue

No I can see that just by looking at them they are different. I haven’t pulled it out yet, thats my job for tomorrow. I have the engineer booked to come out on Tuesday so if I can’t find it I will just wait for him. I suppose it might be a good idea anyway to get the problem diagnosed fully I just loath to spend £100 to repair a £300 cooker that is likely to go wrong again soon as its 6 years old now :/

I think once upon a time there was a sticker but its not there now. It was the first place I checked so I think it must have been there at one point. I take it with out it I am buggered?

    Re: Hotpoint EW74 Thermostat issue

Thank you for getting back to me. I am quite confident with the repair having found a video online on how to do it.

The fault isn’t overheating its that it thinks it hotter than it is, the oven ready light goes out within 5 mins of turning it on (and the oven wasn’t that good when new) I suppose it will over heat as it has no means of telling the temp.

The one major issue I have come across is the other you have highlighted of not being able to confirm the full model number. I have come across this when looking for the parts for it and was concerned it would be a problem, is there anyway to find the model number on the oven as on the front it just says ‘EW74 Slot in’?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Thanks again for your help. Have discovered that it doesn’t appear to be heating properly either, you get a waft of warm air when you open the door mid cycle but the water is cold. Looking back I have been noticing it not drying properly for a week or so either.

I have spoken to a local repair company and they have advised about £170 (fitted) for the repair and I have looked up the price of the Heater Exchange and it is £120 so not worth the cost of repair 🙁

Really appreciate you answering my query though.

Thanks for your quick reply. Bearing in mind I am a total novice at dishwashers can you give me a good starting point to get at that. I am quite hands on with stuff like this but have never attempted dishwasher repairs before 🙂
