Think after all that’s been said going to be better to get a new one

OK here’s the weird thing. on first turning it on after storage the freezer appeared to be working fine. Didn’t test the temp but my test was to put some of aunt bessies yorkshire puds in and see how they got on…they stayed crispy and icey! However, have restarted the unit today and the freezer isn’t cooling any more according to the temp gauge. Definitely not as cold as the other day for sure.
I also noticed that the top of the freezer unit is not getting hot now and also it doesn’t sound like anything is ‘kicking in’ when it needs to get cold, I guess this could be the fan giving up the ghost.
If it is the gas is this a resolvable problem or is it just not worth the hassle now given it’s age etc
Thanks all, finding this an interesting learning curve

Thanks for this but it was only stored in the garage and never turned on. Wheeled it into the nice ambient temperature of the house to start it up again after storage. So guessing this isn’t the problem. I think it is more likely that something broke in transit despite carefully wrapping the FF in a blanket and using a sack truck. Or classic lack of use for so long and suddenly ka-pow, it doesn’t work next time you turn it on. Could any part perish whilst stored?
Thanks
