Re: whirlpool s20brww20 flashing display problem

Had the same problem told the same replace front circuit board, the problem is the capacitors not holding the charge, I replaced them bought from maplin, not the same size but the same capacity etc, I took a photo of the circuit board and took it into the store, fixed the problem, it appears whirlpool had the capacitors made specifically for their circuit boards so impossible to buy. Give it a try cost only about £10 for the caps

    Re: clicking whirlpool fridge freezer

had the same problem told by whirlpool engineer need new circuit boards at a cost of £200.
I have today replaced the 4 capacitors in a row on the rear board, it has fixed the ice machine and the thumping noise when i used the water dispenser, unfortuately there is still a clicking noise have issued new topic to find out if i need to replace the capacitor on its own will let you know what the outcome is. Its worth a try doing this as replacing the capacitors were very easy, needed a soldering iron to melt solder and pull out existing capacitor when solder is hot, reheat the solder and push in new capacitor. Cost of capacitors £20 alot cheaper than new circuit boards. Its a gamble but I think its worth the try, if all fails for me then a new fridge!!

Re: Whirlpool S20B RSB21 american style fridge

i have so far successfully replaced one of the capacitors on the rear board, I managed to get the ice machine working again, when switch on the ice maker to fill my glass there is clicking from the rear so i will now replace the other capacitors, bought for £12 from maplin alot cheaper than two new boards.
I found the info concerning the capacitors on another forum, hopefully the new capacitors extend the life of the fridge!!!
thanks for your replies will let you know how it goes when I get the other capacitors installed.

Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

I have just replaced a capacitor on the rear board and now the ice machine works again, unfortunately maplin where i bought the capacitor only had one available i am going to have to replace all 4 for as there still is a clicking noise ,a cost of only £15.00 for all 4 alot cheaper than £200+ that i have been quoted for two new boards. I have no training as an electrical engineer all I needed was a soldering iron and solder, I heated up the existing solder on the circuit board and when melted removed capacitor, reheated and inserted new one, it is actually relatively easy, if all falls then a new fridge but definately not a whirlpool too many faults.
