Yep – I spotted that one – you have to make sure it is wedged by the casing when you screw the cover on the controller.

    Eureka

It isn’t possible to connect the blocks wrongly on the controller is it – well that what I did – the two larger ones will interchange – I thought one was tight but it went in with a bit of a push. I counted up the wires and terminals and realised what I had done – changed them over and everything works fine.

Just to check having carefully marked the blocks I put the old controller back to see if I had wasted my money and the old fault came back ( unable to set the program without re-setting teh controller).

I couldn’t believe that this was possible with the slots and bars in the PCBand connector blocks but it is. Anyway all is well thank goodness. Thanks for your help.

The door lock is the one thing I am sure about – I know it switches neutral to all the gear – I have tested it almost to destruction ..! It is OK

Thanks for the help. I take both your points – try to get someone that knows what they are doing round our way !. First guy won’t touch it – told me to get extra care , second guy (I now know) tried to reset the heater thermostat , gave up and told me the controllers were rubbish. I then used this site to look for service engineers in my area – there are none. Yellow pages are no help – most of the enegineers will only travel to their back doors.

Even then I didn’t fall for it but after using this site for info managed to get it going again by re-setting the timer control- but the controller was all over the place but I could get a good wash out of it.

All I did was replace the timer , carefully – nothing else.

The loom looks fine but impossible to test.

I think you are right though about a break – but I don’t know enough to test teh machine. All the stats are open circuit which my italian circuit diagram seems to suggest is right. It would help me if I could get an English diagram –

I think the manual will get me going – I will ring MFI.
