Just realised I missed the last part of your last post.

I am also in UK.

Your diagram looks exactly like my fridge, at least the parts I can see.
Does this diagram come with any other information as to the part numbering?

I can confirm that there is no switch inside the lampholder. I have had that entire unit off the wall to replace the thermostat.
The only connection from the lamp/thermostat housing to the rest of the fridge is via three electrical pins. Two of those are the live into the thermostat and the switched output to the compressor. I assumed the third was ground, but maybe it’s the switched line to the light (it does not connect into the thermostat at all). If so, the switch is behind the fridge wall.

I think I’ll get an incandescent bulb and see how that goes. If it works then the rest is just curiosity.
