Oops, missed those threads. Presumably then, it should be laid on its side or its back to access the motor?

Re: Hotpoint TDC60 tumble dryer puts out no heat

    Amazing….

Not only did the Whitegoods shop despatch the dryness module yesterday(from Exeter) about 10 minutes after I placed the order, it got out of the South West before they too were snowed in, it got here this morning ….. and the old girl is hot and humming. The tumble dryer is now working with heat as well!

Is it worth keeping/sending the old module back anywhere for a post mortem?

Thanks for all the assistance, I appreciate it, I guess you guys don’t get paid to release your years of experience and I suppose I’ve stopped some local engineer from getting a job. I consider it a debt that I now owe society in general and I’ll do my best to help out someone else.

Still can’t get over the fact that since last Sunday when the fault occured, I’ve ordered spares twice (Sunday and Thursday) over this difficult week and its all been delivered by Friday. Well done Whitegoods.

Water sensor and indicator both working. Looks like I need ‘1702136 – Hotpoint Tumble Dryer Dryness Module’.

If I don’t get any other suggestions, I’ll order one later today (£80!) and keep my fingers crossed it makes a difference.

    Cheers for support so far….

New stats checked OK, I’ll have a dig for the water level sensor and test it tomorrow. I’m becoming resigned to the prospect of a new circuit board. I’ll have a look on the shop site to see if I can find it.

I’ll let you know how I get on……

Re: Hotpoint TDC60 tumble dryer puts out no heat

Both ‘sensor dry’ and ‘timed dry’, seem to perform the same. On each there is a momentary ‘click-click’ of the relays activating and de-activating at the start, the ‘drying’ lamp flicks on for the fraction of a second this occurs. Then off it goes merrily pushing cold air around.

If I leave it tumbling away with almost dry clothes it eventually gives its little beep-beep to say all done.

I’ve never seen the ’empty water’ lamp come on, even when it was obviously full. I suppose that the water level sensor might be faulty AND the lamp might be faulty, is there any way of testing the water level sensor? And is there a sensor for the condenser or water container being present? It would be sensible to not run the heating if they were missing. (Actually it would be sensible not to operate at all if either of these was missing!)

OK, after a bit of a fiddle I got that door sensor back in place. I’m assuming that Closed Circuit is the norm and that I now need to look elsewhere.

If the next thing to check is the ‘dryness’ sensor in the drum (and given that the suggested price is £60) is there anything I can do to check that sensor? As you can imagine, I don’t want to invest £60 in a new one if I don’t have to.

I’ve checked the continuity from the steel sensor pick up band around the drum, all the way to the control box (brown cable) and all that’s OK. It’s completely open circuit from the band to earth (which may not mean anything).

Starting to panic a bit now, the wife has got tonnes of towels to get dry, it’s freezing outside and the radiators are loaded up with all the other stuff a family of 4 needs cleaning/drying. In desperation have checked prices of new ones and we’re into more than £250 so pressing on with a home fix….

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

Mmm, got the little fella out (but the loom stayed inside, do I need to remove the whole of the front steel panel to get the stat back in and wired up??)

The door stat is showing closed circuit, does that mean its OK?
