Re: Help with Hoover Fridge Freezer Freezing the Fridge

    Hi,

I have the same fridge freezer (Hoover HNMF2605A-80) with the same problem. Just one question. Is the thermistor close to the top left hand corner of the whole whole unit, or close to the top left hand corner of the freezer section? Just thought I would double check before starting to poke around.

    Regards,

    Martin

    Re: HOOVER HNMF2605A-80 FAULT

    Hi,

I purchased the themistor, as suggested and I asked, when placing the order if any fitting instructions were available.

The thermistor arrived without any instructions, so I contacted the spares email address and they just suggested that I return to the forum with any questions.

My main question is this: I understand that the thermistor is ‘foamed in’, but where exactly is it located? I have removed all the internal plastic panels from inside the freezer compartment and I can see no sign of it. I can find the fan, the heat exchanger, the heating element and the thermal cut out, but of the thermistor there is no sign. The only thing I can think of is that it is actually located between the inner and outer skins of the freezer. If this is the case then I think I shall abandon the project fork out for a new appliance.

If I was absolutely certain that the thermistor is the source of the problem, I may be tempted to a undertake major strip down, but there is a limit to the amount of work I am prepared to do on a speculative whim.

    Your advice would be welcome.

    Regards,

Thanks for that. I have had a look behind the recirculation panel and there was a good deal of ice built up around the fan and a plug of ice in the drain hole. I defrosted it and put it back together and the noise disappeared, although I think that it is gradually returning as the ice builds up again. I thought that I would have a go at replacing the thermistor, since this is the cheapaest item to start with, but I note that this device is ‘foamed’ in and needs to be re-foamed. Could you please advise me what this foam comprises and where I can purchase it.
