I have pulled the fridge out tonight. I see that the fan is operational. It doesn’t seem to be making the clicking noise any more. There is however no noise from the compressor.

There is a black box affixed to the compressor where the cables go in. I am having some trouble removing the cover. Are there likely to be any relays that could have gone underneath – if not I shalln’t spend any more time and source a replacement but if there might be, and they could have failed, it might be worth investing some time in it.
