Okay, the color I am seeing now is blue. Thanks for the feedback. As a side note, I only see the flashes at lower rpms. I will continue to monitor it but now I am less concerned. Previously I heard louder noises and saw yellow sparks. After removing and cleaning the brushes it seems improved.

I wouldn’t say it is used heavily. Normally only one load per day since I have no dryer and only have enough space to hang one load. I haven’t noticed a smell that could be due to the heat. I’m still curious why I would see flashes when spinning only in one direction.
