SO!!!! HERE ARE THE RESULTS!!!!! 😯
I recieved the parcel from Indicit which looked as though it had just done 10 rounds with Tyson!!! It was SO bad that I took pictures before I opened it, the end of the heating element was actually stuck out the side of the box!!!! Shocking service!!!! So I opened the box and the ceramic around the element had chipped and cracked, but it belled out ok on a meter. So…I rang them up and explained…you know what’s coming next…’send it back and we’ll send you another on’ – brilliant!!! That is a great help!!! Especially when I have a Wife and Baby who need this DW to work like NOW!! 🙂
So I though fine, i’ll get the DW in the garage at least and strip it down. Now I understand EXACTLY why you can’t go into details regarding the step by step!!! LOL!!! i get the broken heater out and then find that the ‘body’ of the heater box is a different molding – none of the fixing points line up!!!!
By this point you can imaging my frustration!!! I ring them up again and they insist that the unit is correct, so I then decided to think stuff them, so I removed the element from the new unit they sent and fitted it to my existing heater molding, put the thing back together and HEY!!! IT ONLY WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEER!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
The only thing i’ll say is take LOADS of pictures AT EVERY stage of the strip down!!! LOL!!! What a job 🙂
Great feeling when all worked out though!!!!
I couldn’t have done it without the help of this forum – namely iadom thanks mate!!! And I hope you win on the lottery this coming Friday!!!!

iadom wrote:This is a totally Bosch based machine, a new one of this quality as opposed to spec would be around the £400 mark.
If the rest of it looks clean underneath and you feel confident of completing the repair yourself then I would give it a go.
If Hotpoint or to be more precise the Indesit Company fit any part they now guarantee it for just 90 days. 😥
OK!! SO…the part has been ordered 🙂
£115!!! So fingers crossed 🙂It did cause some major updet because the part number didn’t match thier systems!!! LOL My model number is DWF30S/29 it was the 29 bit that upset them 🙂 apparently I was telling fibs and it couldn’t have a 29 it MUST be EITHER a 1 or 2 LOL!!!! So I said lets go fo the 2 and hope for the best.
It is here for Friday so guess what i’ll be doing in the garage all weekend!!!
Can I ask one more favour….is there ANYTHING hints tips that you think I could use to make this as painless as possible?? I know it’s alot to ask but as this is forum based I guess others can benifit from a verbal walk through of what I need to do to change this heater unit 🙂
Massive thanks in advance 🙂

iadom wrote:The price I quoted is Hotpoint’s list price, £88 is not a bad price.
N/P/S are colour varients. 😉
Nice one iadom (as always 🙂 I think this Forum is a really sucessful and helpfull place thanks to people like you!).
So just to weigh this all up, it’s £88 ex vat (btw Hotpoint wouldn’t entertain some kind of parts warranty with this would they??) so £100 for the part delivered. A new machine of this spec would be around the £280 mark? So I understand that this is agood machine, but in you opinion is it definatly worth fixing or should I just buy new? (I have had this unit for about 6yrs)
Many thanks as always.

iadom wrote:Heater should be tested for continuity and resistance. Fault can also be low water pressure within the machine due to failing cicrculation pump or burnt contacts on the control PCB.
List price of genuine heater box is £85.10 ex vat . 😉
Changing the heater box is most definitely not a simple DIY job, a major strip down is involved.
Hi again iadom. the price you mentioned above, is that straight from Hotpoint or one of these online site? I had a hunt around and found them from £88 ex vat up to £130!!! Any prefference for supplier? Also my model is dwf30 although they list a N /P/ & S after, is there a diference or will any of them work?
Thanks again 😀

OK, so…..thanks for the advice iadom (as always) 😀
Wiped the side off just now, and yes perfect access to the heater terminals.
Across the two main terminals I get Open Circuit!
No continuity, and no resitance reading.
So gotta be the heater right? 🙂To confirm (even though it’s obvious) there are 3 wire going to the heater the left terminal a middle block (not sure what that’s for, over heat switch?) and the right terminal. Between main left and righ I get no reading.
It looks as though the element comes out once you release two clips, this is impossible in situ right? So the entire sump has to come out?
Also, can I get just the element or does ut have to be the housing etc??Any advice before I go and order the wrong bit would be great.
Thanks again 🙂

Thanks again and i’ll be ok 🙂
Spark for 10yrs in a previous life to hey…it’s only water right?? LOL!!
I did think that the construction looked a little compact and all from underneath. I was looking at a picture of the replacement elelment…it ooks a beast!!!
So i’ll keep you posted, and I knwo we can’t go into every step…but is there any ‘watch outs’ in getting to the element?? Just want to check that resistance value (thx for the 22ohms) and continuity at this stage 🙂
MASSIVE thanks bud!

Thanks for the reply 😀
So Continuity is easy, do you know the ohm rating for this element?
Low pressure isn’t the fault I don’t think – I had the door open during a run (tricked the catch) and the water was ‘jetting’ out of the pump hitting the roof inside. I’ll check the contacts on the PCB tonight.so £100 for a new heater, ok then that might be ok if this is the problem.
My middle name is major strip down 😀 LOL!!!
I had the door off and kick plate last night in 10 mins so I should be ok (hopefully) So anything else I should know?I really do appreciate all help and advice!!! Thanks!!!
