Penguin I just would like to thank you for your help and assistance, I have removed the Reed switch and replaced it with a new one (CL37S) bought at Maplin along with a soldering kit (my first solder ever!).
All went really well and machine is back on!

Thanks for the help Penguin.
Now looking at the picture of the part you’re suggesting I buy, I am starting to doubt I looked at the right place in the dishwasher…
I went in the door, right behind the place were I put the detergent tablet.
What I saw there does not look like the part I see in the pic.
What I see in the pic reminds me of the left side of the dishwasher, right inside it, there is a hole similar to the one I see in the picture.
Sorry for the confusion, it’s just that I am completely new at this and also I am not a native English speaker, so technical vocabulary is harder to understand.

So was I looking at the right place?
(I removed the wood front of the door, removed the metal front panel, then accessed a black part with black cables and a connector. I disconnected, cleared the plug, then connected them back, that’s all I did)
