Many thanks Greg – have taken your advice re the earth.

I’ve tested the heater element, and I think it’s at fault. My meter shows 20kOhms across the terminals (sounds v high), and between one of the terminals and the earth it’s 2kOhms (sounds v low).

I have 2 questions – how do I get hold of a new one, and how do I replace it? Does it just pull out?
