ParticipantI took a further look at the door itself and found it to be low on the lock side such that the door had to be ‘lifted’ slightly in order for the catch to locate the lock. I suspect that my wife’s ‘slamming’ of the door had caused the inner section of the door to move out of alignment with the outside of the door such that a gap could be seen around the doors two component join. The door was ‘gently’ realigned and now works.
Thanks for responding. Next question will probably be “if had needed the interlock component where would I have sourced it for Southern Spain?”

Brilliant. I shall now focus on obtainig the replacement parts.
I commend this site to the world.

Fan is removed but does not have any concealed serial number.
The Washing machine has serial No 606270041 WD860P.There is also a sticker on the back of the washing machine that gives other numbers: a barcode – WD860P 54270041 and printed 31135 WD860P
At which point I for one am well confused.
The fan unit is secured by 4 screws 1″ apart, therefore if either/any of the fans you can profer matches these fixing dimensions and the electrical spec in my previous post, it is worthy of further investigation as a replacement unit.

I am now trying to take the fan out of the heater box; the locking nut on the blade side of the spindle has come free but there is a smooth circular ‘nut/washer’ that is holding the blades in place. Do you know if it screws off or just pulls off? or else, how it is removed?

The label on the side of the fan reads as follows:
PLASET – ITALY
P/N 72635
230V AC-50HZ
40W-CLH 04-2006does that tellyou anything?

I marked the fan spindle and note that it has not been rotating. Could this alone have caused my problem? what’s the part number?
I checked the machine against your picture. I have 374(hose) but not 373 (hose) or 372 (Filter). So itlooks as though I have the version with no 372 (filter) and an engineer has, in the passed, removed the filter. Should I replace the latter as well?

I have removed the box completely but there is no pipe and gauze as described or pictured. There is only one pipe at the back of the unit which is offset by a couple of centimetres towards the centre of the machine and a couple of centimetres down. It enters from the rear, between the back panel and drum and will be very difficult to manipulate if it is the ‘filter pipe’. It appears to come from the soap dispensing unit on the other (right hand) side of the machine which junctions with a blue cylinder (like a capacitor) and the cold water inlet. The air chamber feeding the heater box appears to arise from an encasement around the drum? Where should the other end of your ‘filter pipe’ go? can I send you a photo?
I see my confusion between TOC and Thermistor. If I am learning correctly, my TOC is measuring 0ohms and my thermistor measures 26Kohms. the latter incidently, reduces to 10Kohms when dropped into hot water – as you described for someone else in another fix I found for dec 2014. So I guess its ok.
I tried to check the fan motor on the last test cycle. I thought it was ok, but I will check it again while you are digesting the above.

I have run another drying cycle but cannot completely verify that the fan is working. It appears to be exhibiting a high pitched whine indicative of spinning; but how do I test it in order to obtain a conclusive result (I do not have a maintenance schematic so I am not sure what voltage to apply)?
I note that the temperature of the surface of the box rises to 56+ degrees – can I assume that ths is normal?
Finally, I have also opened the box, which is clean of fluff, but cannot find any gauze windows? both the inlet and outlet air vents are large and clear.Mike

I have rechecked the resistance of the thermistor and it is definitely 26Kohms which is considerably more than the 20ohms reported in a previous forum conversation with iadom (on 18th May 2009 11:20) – so no misreading but lots of caution. incidently, I also measure 48ohms for the fan coil and 40ohms for the heater which roughly align with iadom’s figures from that same forum entry.
As you are indicating that it won’t be the water heater, then I will confirm that the fan really is spinning and then open the box to check for other blockages and make the changes you advise.
