ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aquarius WD640 – reoccurring F-02 error
Engineer came with parts day before yesterday and replaced motor, motor control board and main control panel electronics. Machine works fine and hopefully will continue to do so. Apart from the actual mechanical bits and pieces – in effect he has replaced all the electronics.
This will get us back with a machine we can use but the shotgun approach means that we don’t really understand what was causing the F02 error. My impression is that Hotpoint are not that concerned until they are seeing a consistent fault from a significant number of machines – but the WD640 is relatively new and the problem we have had is apparently also unusual.

Engineer had cancellation and has called. His view is that problem is with tachometer attached to the motor housing. He has ordered a new motor which will not be fitted until after Easter.
He thinks that explains why the fault happened when a spin was due. However, it does not explain why switching to a new or different wash programme had an identical fault up front apparently the same as the 13 minute spin problem above. He hoped this did not indicate the electronic control board was damaged or scrambled.
I’ll let you know how the new motor works next week. He says the electronic boards are regarded as delicate and that motor problems can destroy them!
