thanks helo.
seems insane you have to remove the evap to get at the fan which is after all a moving part that would wear out!
I will have a go at hoover to see if they will fix it even tho the 1 years warranty is up due to the fact a mod should have been done!
If they would do it for less than £100 I would consider it but if not I may try & cut a hole in the top to access things!
Its a write off anyway so nothing to lose!Cheers!

not an easy job, and doesnt cure it
we usually bin em, theyre a lot of bother
By “bin em” do you mean the whole freezer or just some part?
Although id love to “bin” the freezer, after shelling out nearly £400 less than 18 months ago, Im a bit reluctant to do that until Ive explored a few possibilities!DO you know how the fan can be accessed?
Surely SOMEONE knows????missmouse

the model is a hoover HNU271AFFAL.
Yes, I know you have to open the gas circuit to remove the evaporator! What I am trying to find out is: how to access the the evaporator FAN on this model. As far as I can see this involves disconnecting the evap. Im sure however that this CANNOT POSSIBLY be the case & it is me who is being dim here & not the freezer designers? (hmmmm?) :rolls:The freezer is less than 18 months old (so out of warranty) but has a fault in the fan seizing every few months. when i defrost it everything is normal again until next time! (obviously due to ice build up. yes, I know, its not defrosting itself)
I had an engineer out about 6 months ago (under warranty) who said it was the PCB, & replaced that item. The fault returned after a few months tho.
Im not willing to pay out £100+ for another “repair ” that only lasts 6 months, so I want to have a look myself at the fan when it is seized & see if I can make some adjustment to its location or something.
Failing that I intend to go out & buy a conventional freezer that has no unreliable electronic control crap & fans to wear out!
A defrost every 2 years or so is a small price to pay for reliability!
my last conventional LEC lasted over 20 years without a single mishap! 🙁 -
