    Tricity Bendix – SE454W

    Hi there.

Well I can tell you that a new thermostat was fitted by an engineer (was going to do myself but had trouble working out how to access the thermostat itself).

Once that was done, I set the temp to 200c and used an oven thermometer to check the temp. Even after pre-heating for 30mins, the thermometer only showed 160c. This is when I began looking at the fan being the cause of the issue, so I just bought and fitted the new fan. The fan does visibly appear to be turning quicker than the old one, and it sounds a tad noisier. But after checking the temp again, the same thing seems to be happening. I thought maybe it’s just a crap oven thermometer, but find it hard to believe that it would be out by around -40c.

one thing to note is that since the problem began, the ‘Main Oven’ light has never really stayed on that long once I set a temperature and wait for it to register on the thermometer. I googled around and it seems that on most ovens, the light only goes off once the desired temperature is reached. I didnt think about this much, and just thought that perhaps the oven doesnt keep the elements for long perdiods, and will simply keep cycling at fixed intervals until the temp is reached, and then it will cycle only when the thermostat thinks the temp is too hot/too low.

I’ve now spent £140 trying to fix this problem, and Im now at a loss.

I intially thought about the element being faulty, but 1) it does work 2) I checked if for visible cracking/damage when this problem first occurred and I cant see anything that looks bad.
