Re: SMEG SUK92MFX5 heating element stopped working Dual Fuel

    Hello
I really hope somebody is watching this forum and has the answer to my question ๐Ÿ˜•

So this topic started a long time ago, when I originally had an issue with the heating element on my Smeg cooker, since then its gone a few times and I can cope with this, we cook a lot and changing the element was okay. However it went again yesterday and so I brought out one of the spare elements that I had bought ready for such an event as I knew it would happen again soon enough. I have tried to fit this new element and noticed that it is ‘missing’ a spade connector. This is not damage or anything, I understand it’s just how they sell them now. I emailed the sales team and they helpfully replied with the following.
“You just need to fit the element and not connect the earth connector (central terminal), the lead needs to be secured safely in to the wiring loom so that it does not touch any other connectors etc.

This is a standard on many fan elements now as it is automatically earthed when attached to the oven chassis.”

The problem that I have is that the three connectors are as follows one on the left side of the element, one central one that is on the flat metal that is probably ground and then another on the other side of the element.
The old element has two spade connectors on each end of the element and the central one on the flat metal.

I have also just noticed that it does not have the screw holes I need either. The old one had screw holes at the sides and this one has bolts as part of the item. It looks like the element I have would need to be fixed from behind and not the front as mine currently is. I feel that this may be the wrong element after all.

The information I have about the part are (information from the packaging):
    Home Spare
    Suitable for : Smeg
    part number: 9855
    Fan oven element (2200W)

The part on my order was 806890397

    please help ๐Ÿ™

Re: how to change a light bulb on a SMEG SUK92MFX5

    Hello Penguin45,

Thanks for the response, it gave me the courage to attach some grips to the light bulb glass cover and try again. This seemed to do the trick and I now have the bulb out ๐Ÿ˜€
I tried using some oven cleaner overnight but it didn’t seem to make much difference. I will clean the threads on both the cover and on the oven before putting it back together.
once I get the bulb I ‘ll be able to see what we’re cooking again ๐Ÿ˜€
    cheers

    Gareth

    Re: cannon cooker

    LOL ๐Ÿ˜€

I hadn’t quite realised how my wording could be read, please rest assured I am not looking to do it myself. I was just curious on pricing of the item as well as the CORGI person, but now see how it could be read as ‘persistant’ ;).

I will contact the relevant people.

    Thanks for you guidance ๐Ÿ˜ณ

    Re: cannon cooker

    okay I can appreciate that.

In that case can I ask a slighly different question or should I move it to the cooker forum. Has anyone needed to replace this part and does it cost much to buy and then get a CORGI person in for fitting?

    thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

    Re: cannon cooker

Hello, This is to fill out more of the information that my dad (wynmorgan) posted about the Canon Harmony Dual fuel cooker.

    The model number is 10216G
    The serial number is 78 1 0170

The burner is the one at the back on the left.

All the rest of the plate igniters spark. This one does not. This is since a house move.

if you need more information please let me know.

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Well Mr Flyman you are absolutely spot on. But you knew that right ๐Ÿ˜‰
The timer had gone quiet on us again and so I figured I would investigate this time. I found as you said it has three levels. The way to change the sound level was simply to press the minus button until the level I wanted was heard. Simple and effective!!
    Thanks for the tip!!

Re: SMEG SUK92MFX5 heating element stopped working Dual Fuel

    Hello,

Well a big thanks to this site for supplying the element for a great price and quickly.

The great news is that I received the element and it is now replaced and working fine.

The procedure was very straight forward.

At the back of the oven there are two bolts that can be unscrewed by hand/pliers or large screw driver (whatever it takes ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Then slide out the metal piece covering the back panel. It will come out very easily. You will then see the element. It is screwed in with three screws (standard sized) undo these and it will then allow the element to move slightly, donโ€™t pull it hard, itโ€™s attached to the wires with blade connectors. These come through a small slot in the back. Mine was connected as follows.

    LEFT
    |—Orange & white on the left most connector
    |—
    |
    |—Green & yellow on the middle connector
    |
    |—Solid blue on the right side of the middle
    |—Blue & white on the very right hand side
    RIGHT

Remove the connectors carefully checking if they match what I describe, if not note them down to be safe, don’t want any surprises ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Then just attach the new one and then reassemble by doing the above steps in reverse.

By the way some how the alarm has come back to full volume ๐Ÿ˜€ no idea how but just loving it!!

This was a very simple job; it was done from the front and does not require any special skills. In my view these instructions should be included with the element. Anyone can do it.

    Enjoy

    Hello,

wow thanks for the speedy reply. I am hearing what you say about the buzzer and so will happily steer clear ๐Ÿ™‚

You mention that Dave may be able to get the part number for me, will Dave call me or post the part number for the order online? I am keen to order today and fix ASAP.

Thanks very much for the help.

    Really appreciated.
