Hi – thanks for the response. I can get the full model/serial numbers if needed.

What I have noticed, is that for and aft movement on the drum is now accompanied by a clonking noise (not scientific I know!). I know that the drum is floating and the movement is normal, but I’m sure the noise was never there before. However, the machine spins very quietly with no load on the spin part of the programme.

I’ve looked inside the back and nothing obvious – I will check the belt tension, but would I expect to hear the belt slipping as it tried to run up to speed? The suspension systems seem to be intact and firmly fixed all round.

I think I agree that laying machine on the side will give easiest access to motor – not sure how it’s fixed in. Obviously 2 rubber damping straps will come off, but does the motor separate where the cast housing meets the plastic behind? Tricky to see at the moment…

If not tight, you may find a normal Allen (hex) key will do the job at a pinch

Panel off – motor seems very hard to turn, and only by wedging a screwdriver on the fins. It also won’t go aound a full rotation without jamming.

Is it possible that there is an obstruction somewhere, and what’s the best approach for this?
