    Update to this problem.

I have now successfully managed to run a warm wash by placing a blob of blu-tack over the TNY278GN chip, so I think this chip is faulty and getting too hot. The blu-tack dissipated some of the excess heat.

Now for the million dollar question – I’ve ordered some little heat-sinks and pads, that I will place over the chip rather than using blu-tack (for obvious reasons!).

I’ve also orderd a new TNY278GN chip on eBay (from Germany). When I get it, will it just be a case of desoldering the old chip and sticking the new one in its place? I’m far from an expert in soldering, but looking at the chip, it seems quite straight-forward.

    TIA

Hi Dave – yes it completely shuts down, as if the plug has been pulled.

does it shut down as the heater energises ?

    How can I check that?

I have a faulty Miele W5748 that I’ve been trying to troubleshoot. I opened it up and found the part linked below on the floor of the machine. Anyone any ideas what it is? TIA
