The best way to do it unless you have access to a press is to place the new bearing in the bearing aperture were the seal sits and then place the old bearing on top of it and then just tap it home.
On the pulley side just line the bearing up and using the old bearing tap that one home as well.

I replied to a question of a poster that was not answered correctly by another. When I corrected him he didnt like it and started to be abusive, I defended myself.
care to elaborate on which facts?

“play fair, its a friendly and helpful forum”
Really? So why did you start your post to me with the words “Big of you that. Isnt it” ? and why did you reply to the poster in such an arrogant and dismissive way?
(kwatt edited out the personal attacks and spurious comments – do not behave in this manner on this forum, it is unacceptable)

discount what that last poster wrote, (note for you! why bother posting if you don’t want to help people?)
If the new bearings are badly damaged then discard them. Look in the yellow pages and find a bearing supplier close to you, both bearings shouldn’t cost you more then £10.00. get the type with the rubber seal they will last a lot longer.
No need to heat the spider but make sure the inside faces of the spider where the bearings sit are clean, use some emery cloth to to remove any imperfections. Place the spider on blocks and use the old bearings to drive in the new ones, only strike the very outside rim of the bearing and never the bearing seal. Make sure you don’t get the old bearing, the drum side one, stuck in the bearing aperture when you strike it, check after each strike to see if its still free, when its fully home you will hear the change in sound as it hits the bearing stop. Check that your drum seal is ok and then reassemble the machine
Remember on reassembly to use locking compound to stop any of the bolts on the spider and pulley from shaking lose.
I wont patronize you by saying the usual thing on here of ” Remember to disconnect the appliance from the mains!”

😆 lmao!, So that’s the main pcu unit giving the front panel pcu the cold shoulder?, so what would be the best way of encouraging these little devils 😈 to get along with each other?, could it be one of the buttons on the panel sticking and making a faint contact?, properly not!

After you have removed the bolts that secure the spider to the drum, get a bearing puller and use it to pull off the spider. Once pulled off place the spider on bricks and drive out the bearings with a suttable implement.. Don’t scrap it because of the bearings!. It shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes to do. 😆
