Many thanks for your reply. I suspected a bit of mid-air soldering was going to be required…..

And yes, as you suggested, I don’t have much spare wire to cut back either, which is a bit of a pain as the terminal ends of some of the cables have got quite burned when the switch blew (it was the fan, rather than the light switch that burned).

Fortunately, then hood is wired to a dedicated wall trip, so its easy to turn off.

Right then, I’ll get a helper in a get to it.
