Mine used to do the same. Washer started occasionally but would usually just flash the LED behind the start/stop button.
Noticed there was no tactile feel to the start/stop button. Removed PCB with buttons on and replaced the tactile switch with a new one. Checked original switch with multimeter and switching action seemed OK. Got new one with a longer plunger and filed down to match original profile. It’s a fairly common foot-print part. Seems like the diaphragm within the original switch had failed so no positive clicking action when pressed. Re-assembled taking care to align rubber button covers. Note the start/stop switch is recessed with respect to the other 3 buttons to the left.
After replacing the washer has always started first time of pressing start button.
