    Hi Dave,
    You certainly have a good memory and have helped me immensely, as the old Servis motor did have a resistor between the terminals of the tacho.

    I removed the Hotpoint motor from the washing machine and checked out the resistances between the two motors and they looked to be similar.

    I then removed the tacho assembly from the old Servis motor and re-fitted it to the Hotpoint motor, then fitted it back onto the washing machine and low and behold the washing machine now appears to work again !
