Hi Martin. Thanks so much for your swift response! Behind the little flap at the bottom left is an emergency drain tube for draining the machine and a round circulation pump cover. There is no other sign of a switch although there is one of those round, flat screws that need a coin to turn them – could that be it?

Thanks Martin. I am aware that I’ve been lucky to have such a good long run with the Siemens – it’s never even gone wrong so this is the first time I’ve ever had an engineer out to look at it. I have an ancient AEG washing machine of similar vintage…it’s been used probably nearly every day for 12 yrs and I love it to bits…will be gutted when that one bites the dust!
Neff with extended warranty from John Lewis sounds like the best bet. Many thanks.

Hi Don. Thanks so much – that is very helpful. When you say the John Lewis models are made by Electrolux, I assume you mean the John Lewis own-brand dishwashers rather than the Neff dishwashers sold through John Lewis? Also, I assume the BSH machines are superior to Electrolux? Many thanks.
