The answer: The permanent anti-scale system, used by Morphy Richards, contains a weak acid cation resin. It is made by Puralite.

The one I have is Morphy Richards. They probably work the same. I’m afraid that the FAQ doesn’t help me to understand how it works.
Thanks though. I have emailed them the same question. I would be surprised if they answer it very quickly though. I have kind of given up on Morphy Richards.
