Ok, understand. The problem in our area is that there are only two companies listed which can carry out refrigeration repairs, one only deals with commercial appliances and the other charges so much to work on domestic appliances because there is no competition. Most people therefore bin their appliances. I am just glad that you were such a great help.

    Tony,

New thermostat installed today, all is well.

    Thanks for your help.

These so called appliance engineers who are resident near me don’t touch refrigeration and are limited in what they can do. They don’t know what they don’t know because they don’t know.

    Tony,

Many thanks. I very slightly pulled on the thermostat cable which travels through a channel in the roof section. As it did not release I then realised it must be held at the rear of the fridge. A closer look with my mini torch down the channel confirmed this.

I should have made it clearer in the description of the fridge. My version is 26D.

The top front fascia panel housing the slot temperature dial has an opaque plastic inner which is fixed by plastic clips. This inner plastic shroud needs to be removed to access the fixing position for the thermostat, which in turn is fixed by a flat nut. The nut can be removed using pin nose pliers. Please note that the plastic slot temperature dial is pushed onto the thermostat spindle and can be removed by a gentle pull.

What I do need help with is how the thermostat wire sensor end is fixed at the rear of the fridge.
