My next question was when does cooling fan come on? . well i tried that and it comes on , on any setting , pretty much immediately. So from that I assume said cooling fan is checking external oven temperature , not the oven temp.. Ok I’m happy to replace both fan and it’s thermometer. Worth a try. I’ll see if I can spot specific part nos, And I’ll be back. If any one has contrary views suggestions please shout , Im open to all offers here. Thank you K. Ken.

Yes I have the wiring diagram, I totally agree, and thats an interesting thought, although I mentioned it last ,but its not necessarily. the last thing that happened. And would cooling fan operate before cooking was complete? All the bits and bobs are wired back to a control board. That was the 1st item that was replaced.
    Thanks, Ken

The fault only happens every few months. and once at a time. So they have tried 2 things, both on the basis of Lets try that and see.And the same fault has reoccurred. It is intermittent. Its very unlikely for the same fault to reoccur, if at least one of the attempts to repair had worked. It was not at fault at the time, the engineer called, and so wasn’t at fault at the time he left.
Incidentally it was a service and maintain business I ran, so I am probably aware more than most of the nightmare of intermittent faults. I will video it next time it happens. Mean time I’m happy to purchase any bits to try, my own repair , was hoping for some suggestions. Unfortunately Smeg is a closed book as far as looking for practical advice. Thanks anyway. Ken

I think whoever attended to repair, is liable for the repair tho, irrespective of age. Thanks Dave,
