Re: About As Much Use as……….

    here’s one for the pot

There was an engineer who had an exceptional gift for fixing all things mechanical. After serving his company loyally for more than 30 years, he happily retired. Several years later, the company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible problem they were having with one of their ‘state of the art’ washing machines.

They had tried everything and everyone else to get the machine to work but to no avail. In desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so many of their problems in the past. The engineer reluctantly took the challenge. He spent a day studying the machine. At the end of the day, he marked a small “x” in chalk on a particular component of the machine and stated, “This is where your problem is.”

The part was replaced and the machine worked perfectly again. The company received a bill for £500.00 from the engineer for his service. They demanded an itemized accounting of his charges.

The engineer responded: “One chalk mark: £1; knowing where to put it: £499.00”

    Re: Beko

I’m sure one of the more experienced of you will correct me if i’m wrong, so i’ll say now, please do!

I was chatting to a fella from a uk refrigeration manufacturer, solicitors are expensive so i wont take the risk of saying who, sad i know..

he said 5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of sales are allocated to a slush fund to cover warranty repairs. Lets say a cheapy under counter fridge is £80.00 net to them.

That means £4.00 is put aside, to cover admin, overheads, ect, aswell as labour and parts if it broke, so maybe only £1.00 of that actually sits in the labour/parts purse

No big maths there, 30 units have to be sold to cover 1 repair for labour only @ £30.00… plus parts of course.. so in real terms more than 30 units would have to be sold… Does this mean they put a figure of atleast 1 in 30 is their failure rate? perhaps so,

Just love to know Beko’s figures!!, because at the end of the day, as cheap as chips they might be?anyone that touch’s them will get oven baked or fried……(aww)

If you rate your repairs…..repair your rates!

    Re: Beko

    Indeed Kwatt,

If there has ever been a purpose made disposable. Beko is it (IMHO)

How can these Manufactureres AND wp’s expect a sound service back-up when the complete cr*p they make is better off delivered straight to the recyclers saving everyone in between time and grief, and as far as the selling price is concerned..

The retailers can’t make much?, the wp’s can’t make much?, how on earth do they expect there to be anything left for us?.

“delighted to inform you that we have reached an agreement with a leading white goods manufacturer BEKO PLC. The trial to begin immediately”.

Leading white goods manufacturer….???, someone help me off the floor…

    WP’s ‘V’ direct agents

As a direct agent for the 1st time. I am experiencing a ‘working with’ relationship rather than a ‘working for’

    I get:
Internal training, good tech support, decent spares discount, negotiated rates, i.e £75.00 for 1 in Catmando or £35.00 ea for 5 in the same street.
a fair split of warranty and out of warranty work, paid promptly.

    They get:
The right repair, a high 1st repair rate, very low comebacks, direct communication, faster response times, commitment from me. financial savings. (no WP)

I can’t speak for all, but this system does work for me AND my manufacturer.

Oh and by the way……The CUSTOMER

    regards all
