Ice constantly building up in the base?, regular little puddles on the floor?

Sounds like a blocked drain, shine a torch through the grill in the freezer panel at the bottom, if it’s blocked you will see ice in the drain tray.

Dispenser door not opening? If your lucky you might just need a Fountain door kit (about £50.00)

    Good day all

Firstly, many thanks to Ken for bringing this equipment to your attention.

We are responsible for importing Airsled into the UK.

I’m not surprised by the concerns of some regarding possible damage to components beneath appliances, because these were MY concerns in the research of this product.

There is a simple solution to this, on the older Admiral/Maytag SxS the drain tray lay’s lower than the chassis, 2 x 1″ blocks 6″ wide placed on each beam just behind the door’s on the chassis clears the Drain tray.

Different makes will vary on positions of ‘obsticles’ underneath, but by the nature of appliance design, nothing will be to low, so to impede placement of the beams in that respect.

Included in the Kit are 4 Nylon Ski’s for rough surfaces carpet ect, allows for easy transition of surface change.

I have been ‘road testing’ the Airsled for the past 5 months, and as mentioned before, doesn’t come out the van every day, BUT, the best way i can describe it’s presence is like having ‘2 muscle bound lumps with the sublety of Ballerina’s sitting in the back of the van waiting to be called on.

I have installed a Range Cooker & levelled in minutes by myself while two kitchen fitter’s looked on in disbelief (no need to say they ordered one)

    Moving stacked washer/dryers, no problem

A web search of this product on American forums will confirm it’s validity as a very useful product, i have yet to read one from an owner of Airsled that is not happy with it. The testimonials speak for themselves.

This is not a miracle product or a magic wand, but ‘it does do what it says on the tin’

    Hope this helps

There are a few things that can cause an intermttent buzzing. What concerns me is the distinctive click at the end, normally this would be the Klixon overload which is connected to the compressor along with the relay,

It’s possible it could be a faulty Klixon, more likely to be a struggling compressor though, keep an eye on your Bread and Ice cream in the freezer (if you got them) they’d be the first things to defrost.

Water valves also buzz, turn the icemaker off, if its them the buzzing will stop if not…it could be costly (compressor)

Let’s clear up Air return issue.

The air return at the base behind the middle salad draw is for circulation, it has a non return plastic film on it that will only allow the air to exit the fridge into the freezer, it has no bearing what so ever to salad bins freezing, as soon as i read ‘cork’ i think Nick has made a mistake to which vent is blocked, just above the evaporator fan motor on the right hand side is another (round) vent/ducting that leads through to the salad draw to allow it to run cooler ideally +1c. this is not controlled by the fridge thermostat, this is a direct link to the freezer therefore using the slider and adjusting the freezer thermostat slightly warmer will normally cure freezing in the draw.

Note though that the Admiral Nick has has only 1 vent/duct by the fan motor, the Maytag has 2 because the meat draw also has a vent/duct located next to the other, these are the vents that get corked…i know, i know, this sounds like a bodge, i prefer to call it a modification…

The salad bins can suffer condensation problems leading to water being found in the middle draw, this mod normally cures that.

By the way, the base air return is rectangle, this cant be the one blocked as i dont know of any square corks…

“The Warranty Company have therefore washed their hands of the problem by stating it is a Manufacturing fault!!! “

If you believe the warranty company know more about this problem than any of the adviser’s from the post’s above then i’m affraid no amount of ‘good’ advice will help you Nick. Your complaint is not unusual by any means but if you think this is a ‘Maytag’ problem you are wrong. Any style of fridge/freezer with an internal icemaker can suffer from this.

You stated that the transfer passage at the base of the freezer has been blocked, are you sure of that?, if it is then get it unblocked, it’s there for a reason, this is an ‘air return’ to the freezer, air circulates in a clockwise motion, the evaporator fan motor sends air up and around the freezer, a small amount enters a vent/damper mechanism allowing air into the fridge section, this air is returned to the freezer via the air return at the base, it needs this to be efficient, this leads to the fact that unless foods are properly wrapped or sealed the aroma gets dumped on the ice, even if it is, ice after several days will become tainted anyway, dont forget that the air that enters the vegatable draws has to come out too. as an earlier suggestion, feed it to your plants. Here’s a list of suggestions that will should help.

    1. start a fresh, turn off and dismantle the whole interior (you do not need to un-screw anything) spillages can hide behind the draw sections, clean the whole cabinet interior and accessories with a watery mix of Bi-carboate soda and re-fit.

    2. 2x deodoriser eggs or a tub of bi-carb powder with the lid off will help take out any passing aroma’s, just place on a fridge shelf.

    3. do not keep ice for more than a week.

    4. A scale inhibiter available from B&Q (£35 approx) will certainly help for hard water issue’s (make sure you get a drinking water type)

    5. A standard inline water filter is always a good idea

    6. You can actually have the whole system ‘flushed’ with a milton solution that cleans every bit of pipe work including water valves & icemaker by a compotent engineer.

    7. write down 100 times “I’m sorry Maytag”

    Sorry to hear that No3

All i can say is if Whirlpool try that they will have a mother of a dilema on their hands…Not because of someone being picky or choosy, but if they expect their agents, let alone experienced Maytag agents, to be fully competent across the range, i have yet to meet such a person!

We all know of the growing divide in technology & system work regulations, and have a 1st fix repair rate on laundry. Dishwashers. Cookers ect aswell ?

is that the dilema your friend is in?

    Come on now!!

This whole thread has been about a cheap & cheerful (being polite) disposable brand that has been marketed as a ‘numbers trick’ ie, a {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of faulty under warranty units against the opposite, for what it costs to manufacture this ‘toot’ it’s not worth a callout to repair……unless… there ARE people that are willing to do it for nothing.

Let the manufacturers of the crap repair their OWN rubbish, that will cost them money.

We all remember when appliances could go 10 years………technology is a strange thing….but it means nothing to the numbers people.

i dont need it know as i have a agency, saving me £400 a year in membership….
