OK , so if it helps anyone in the future this fault is indicating the water thermistor is out of range , as long as I keep the ambient temperature above 4 degrees I don’t get the fault. since turning up the frost heater in the garage, and the ambient temperature rising , I’ve not had the fault since I last posted .
What I do find very annoying is why this information is not available , its simply a fault code , even when I spoke to Candy “”Technical”” they insisted the machine was definitely at fault and I needed an engineer . Would have been interested to see what the engineer would have said , that’s one call out they wouldn’t have been paid for !!

Hi, Thanks for this, I would be interested to hear what you find.
Do the manufactures not produce a service manual for there appliances these days, as in my experience these give a far greater range of diagnostic checks as well as component values and operating logic, I only work on commercial and industrial machinery and generally manufacture information is brilliant, but I do appreciate a Candy domestic appliance is not built to those standards .
As the machine works after a reset and has as yet never failed during a wash/dry cycle, I will just continue to use it and see if the issue disappears when the weather warms up, either that or it will die completely .
Let me know if you know where I can access a service manual,
Many thanks for your replies, Oliver.

Hi, thanks again for your reply , yes I’m fully aware that the “off ” position on the control dial is just basically a software point and not a mechanical isolation , and yes switching off at the socket between uses would overcome the issue , but not cure it.
I was hoping that the regular beeping and the sequencing of the LEDs would be a fault indication ( i did give you a bit of false information in the first post, its the temperature LEDs, not the speed ones) as its does the same thing every time it goes into fault , indicating the same fault condition , I don’t believe I’m the only person ever to experience this fault. One thought I did have is the washing machine is in a garage, and it may have no connection to the problem but it does seem to have started since the outside temperature has dropped , I have a frost protection heater in the garage as all the plumbing is in there, but this only keeps the ambient temperature to 5 deg c , is it maybe an indication of a sensor out of range or frost condition , I suppose I can only prove this when the weather warms up .
I don’t want to take the shot gun approach of replacing the PCB only to find the fault re occurs , im aware modern domestic appliances have somewhat flaky and poorly designed electronics , I have a Whirlpool American style fridge freezer that I bought about 12 years ago , this would have occasional issues with the controller going into a wobble and having to be reset by powering down and on again, Whirlpool replaced the PCB twice under warranty in the first year but the problem persisted , after a few tests I eventually found that installing contact suppressors across both the fridge and freezer light door switches cured the issue, and to this day the fault has never re occurred .I have a short video clip of the lights and can upload this if it may help.
    Many Thanks,
    Oliver.

Hi , thanks for your reply, I would have thought if it was either of these components then it wouldn’t work properly during a cycle, the fault only happens when its in the Off position. the machine warms up so the element is OK, I never use or select the “smart touch” function so doubt its the NFC.
