    Thanks for the info. As you say it’s probably easiest and cheapest to just try another element so I think I’ll try that, they look to be about £40.

    What’s the best way to do this? I tried measuring resistance between the connectors and earth but I didn’t find anything using my digital meter but it is only a cheap basic thing.
