Success, 😀 I lifted the front of the machine up and back about 8 inches, carefully and (preferably with help) looked to the rear r/h/s of m/c and there is the motor, I switched it to spin and powered up briefly – the light show from the bushes was nice and constant, sparkly even, switching power off, torch in hand I had a good look and judging from the brown deposits around the bushes they look worn, I then gave each unit a solid tap with the back of a screwdriver and then switched on, they must have been sticking as the machine is functioning correctly again and a spin test worked fine.
The bushes look easy to replace but be carefull laying the m/c back because of the drum. they are the black plastic modules at the front but have star drive type screws on, they can be bought of this site for £14.95 however i found them and will order from ebay item number 150151104015. I obviously can’t say that you have the same fault but ours was doing the exact same thing, full wash right to the end but no spin as the motor was not recieving the proper power feed required, for £8 and 35 mins work as opposed to £100 plus fitting for a motor, engineer or as you say £200+ for a machine, it has to be worth a shot, good luck. 😉August 23, 2007 at 8:56 pm in reply to: Hoover se220 – not spinning (and now a slight burning smell) #225523outofreach

Hi, quite a coincidence that in the last couple of days ours has gone down too with the same symptom but as yet no burning smell!
I shall be stripping ours down tomorrow, I have looked briefly and there is a crackling sound coming from within could this be motor bushes??
Under load I presume it may not have the power, I have found them for about £8 with postage on ebay.
Can anyone agree with me on this, I have a fair understanding of electrics and bits and bobs, probably through being too tight to buy new or get someone in, lol, watch this space.
