Just to let you know, I switched the machine back on and the display showed 5 minutes before quickly displaying the flashing dashes again so I assume the machine had gone through the cycle OK including interim spins but gave up on the final spin. bfn x

Thanks for all your help, both of you, will now add a couple of hand towels and keep an eye on it. I’m stressed out now!

    Re: ISE 1607W

Well at the moment I have a soggy bath mat in the machine. I have some towels waiting to be washed. To balance the load, with overloading it, I am proposing to drain the machine, add a hand towel and start the wash again. I take your point about bath towels but I am where I am at the moment. Do you think what I propose to do will be OK or make it worse?

    Re: ISE 1607W

I have washed bath mats before in this machine with no problem. I also check the filter regularly and have had no fluff at all, only a 5p piece once! Which frightened the life out of us as so noisy! They are light bath mats very similar to thick towels. So the same could be said for fluffy, thick towels? But you can’t hand wash towels, would be a nightmare.

@iodom thanks for your help, really appreciate it. I got my machine oct/nov last year I recall. I shall have a look for the latest manual online. Now I am going to run the machine on drain before I remove items, just to make sure it is drained properly before I remove. Do you think it would be OK to add a hand towel and wash again, as obviously not spun at all so therefore not rinsed etc? I don’t use *heavy* bath mats and I certainly don’t want to hand wash them! What are you supposed to do if you cannot put a bath mat in a washing machine?

lol, well it might in your manual but in mine it mentions F10, F11 and F12, nothing about 3 rows of flashing dashes and I did have my glasses on!

    Thanks for the quick response.

    @kwatt
    – so one shouldn’t wash bath mats in a washing machine even if lightweight ones i.e. with no firm backing, all material? I have washed bath mats before and no problem. Will it be OK to add a hand towel and start the wash again or am I going to get the same problem?
Also, why doesn’t the manual mention the flashing dashes for unbalanced load?

    Re: ISE 1607W

    Hello everyone,

Many thanks to all of you for your help and information, it is appreciated. I’m also pleased I have been able to provide a little bit of humour on this forum. I take on board your comments about too much detergent, I can understand how that would affect the machine, any machine.

I am just going to put this problem down to a glitch as it has never happened before and I certainly haven’t had any problems like you have had Oliver. I also know the machine was not overloaded or oversoaping, you will have to take my word on this please. In fact, sometimes I think I have not used enough detergent as I can never see any suds when washing. However, I have not increased it and if I have a small load I reduce it anyway.

Temperature wise, I wash normally soiled clothes at 40, sheets and towels at 60 and once a month do a 95 wash using Service Engineer. Haven’t heard of or seen Affresh.

Can someone help me regarding a couple of questions I posted earlier on this thread about the filter hose and the use of conditioner? I can’t get the hose off and don’t want to yank it and somewhere I read that one of UKW engineers thought conditioner was just filling machine with gunk. Do you users use conditioner?

    Kind regards

    Re: ISE 1607W

Thank you and yes I do understand it.

In order for the suds to cause this blockage what amount of detergent would you need to use in a reasonably soft water area?

Would you expect to see a lot of suds in the drum?

Would an error show on the display?

On draining the machine and spinning (as I did), how much of the detergent would be discarded during that process?

    Re: ISE 1607W

I’m obviously not going to get anywhere with this problem. I know the machine WASN’T overloaded and I know I didn’t use too much detergent.

I am extremely disappointed that I have not received more constructive support from UKW.

    Re: ISE 1607W

Not convinced it’s oversoaping either as I put very little detergent into my washes, also very tiny bubbles in drum not huge soap suds. I must put about 60ml in, with measuring jug.

    Re: ISE 1607W

Thanks for all the replies and help but I am still not convinced it is anything to do with overloading or too much detergent.

Let’s just suppose the machine was overloaded for a moment. Surely if the machine is overloaded no wash programme would work? The same thing would happen – machine just sticks. Yet, I drained the machine, did an 800 spin and then set it on a Quick Wash with no detergent and it all worked fine. I took no clothes out (as I didn’t think it was overloaded) so the machine had the same weight of clothes.

I never put in too much detergent as I said before.

Surely if the machine is overloaded on one programme it must be overloaded for all of them?
