ParticipantOkay Dave, I ran the machine with the L/H panel off. Its definitely the hose form the dispenser tray to the drum. It leaks bad when filling. I also noted was bit of a leak on the small hose at the very to of the drum.
Would you know of a good place to get these parts on line? I have looked on ebay, but its all 2nd hand stuff. I have also looked at a lot of online parts suppliers, but without much luck.
Also, when fitting the new hoses, do you have to use any silicone grease, or do they go on dry (once everything has had a good clean)?
It’s a W562 Prestige Plus 6, Type: HW07-1pace72
ParticipantThanks, I’ll take a closer look.
After changing the hose, I put it through a cycle, and then took the front panel off. The water seemed to be around the bottom hose connection to the drum. I also noticed a drip off water at the back of the drum, but importantly there was no wet at the front.
I guess when spinning the water can find its way out of any poor connection.
I will run it again, then pull it out and take the side panel off, and look at the other connections to the drum, and the filler/tray connections.pace72
ParticipantThank you Dave, I will have a look at the top components. It seems to leak more if it’s had a heavy load, so I guess it could be any connection to the drum?
The door seal looks okay, and theres no water at the front of the drum.
Is it possible that there is a hole in the drum?
Being as the machine is 18 Y/O, am I waisting my time with it, in your opinion?
It’s just it seems to work well and quietly otherwise, and I’m guessing the new Miele machines are not as good quality wise?
Thanks,
Paul.pace72
ParticipantUPDATE!
Well, I was just about to give up and order a new machine from JL, when I thought, I’ll just have one more button pressing session!
I managed to get it into what must be a fault menu? Then by turning the dial to the right within the first three notches, I was getting different numbers, letters and symbols on the display. None of this meant anything to me as I don’t have any service info (what I came on this site for), but I then managed to get the machine to fill. I then manager to reset to standby, and hey presto! I was able to run the 8 minute spin and drain. I have now run a hot cycle with some white vinegar, and she seems to have returned to normal!
I guess I may still have a leak somewhere, but I am now happy to spend the time tracing it if necessary.
The new Miele machines look okay, but only have a two year warranty, which doesn’t inspire much confidence.
I called one local repairer who wanted to charge me £60+VAT to come out and condemn the Miele, he was also quite keen to sell me a cheap Bosch as a replacement. I said the the Bosch would only likely last 5 years, to which he agreed, and then replied, “that’s about how long a new Miele would last too”.
Anyway, she lives to fight another day, And hopefully a few more years!pace72
ParticipantThanks, I’ll take a look. Do you think water could have got up that high?

ParticipantWhere are the control cards located Dave? Behind the controls at the top, or are there boards in other places?
pace72
ParticipantThanks Dave, that is a possibility, I have had 17 years without any repairs, so I guess I’ve had my moneys worth out of it! The new ones don’t look as well built, and I guess impossible to fix, unless you call Miele out?

That’s it, you’ve convinced me! I’m going to order one!
Thanks for the advice.pace72
ParticipantRe: Tumble dryer buying advice
I just wanted a shiny new machine to go in my new utility room! Maybe I should keep the Bosch until it conks completely. But seriously, a new machine should be more efficient I guess?
I have load tested the Bosch and it draws more current on the high heat setting so the element must be working on both settings. Is there anything else that could make it take longer to dry? it takes about 1.5 hours for a full mixed load. Maybe that is normal?

ParticipantRe: Tumble dryer buying advice
Thanks Martin, the AEG machine is a sensor dry model so I guess that should stop us over drying. Our current Bosch dryer (about 12 years old) is very noisy and I have replaced the capacitor and repaired the door (broken off by my 2 year old!). It was only a basic model and when cross referring for parts I discovered that it was basically a White Knight dryer re badged! The Mrs recons that it takes ages to dry and we tend to over dry things by sticking it on too long after the first run.
Are these sensor dry machines any good? Do they work? or am I making a mistake buying a cheaper machine? Although its an AEG its only £270.

ParticipantRe: Tumble dryer buying advice
Thanks for that, it just seems odd that you can buy a meile washing machine for under £600 and a dishwasher for just over £400 but their dryers start from about £750!
So vented is the way to go?
Is the AEG model in my last post any good? or is it too new to tell?
If I can find a s/h Meile dryer, which model/range were particularly good?
