ParticipantRe: I got a contract!
just another line of thought…..
O.K. so you have 6 calls a day inorder to make some sort of profit but have you thought what will happen when you have say 2 or 3 or 5 or 6 jobs out standing which need spares fitting? Can you afford to take less jobs per day or are you allowed to reduce your daily quota in order to fit spares? I can see a possible snowball effect here possibly ending in an avalanche with our friend underneath it!!!!
Am I being cynical or realistic? 😯

Watcha mate… how goes it?
I know of only one other instance I’ve heard of of an engineer paying someone for the calls he did. A young ex-engineer of ours thought he saw an opportunity to get rich quick and and answered an ad. in a local paper (South Midlands area). Although one of our other engineers knew this firm and warned him against them, he went for an interview and was taken on as a self employed person, not as he was led to believe employed, and soon found he could not make ends meet. He was working all hours to earn enough to pay his WP at the end of each week. He had to supply his own parts and began to run up bills! Needless to say he soon cut his losses. He went the way of most young entrepreneurs and eventually took up employment with B.Gas!!!!
Just think of it this way, if I could get £30 per job out of each of my engineers without the complication of spares costs etc, have them self employed (no vehicle, tax, N.I. contributions) I would be e-mailing you from the Bahamas right now!!!!!
Thinking about it….am I ******* mad?!!!! 8)

I am a recent convert to the UKW Site and am gobsmacked (amazed to the uninitiated) to find out how much information is out there (or is that in here?). Thanks folks for your contributions.
As to the DSG work, not all of us fortunately, or otherwise, are tied to contracts with S-O-T. As previous agents for DSG a few years back payments were predictable and on time. The jobs were in a relatively compact area and this made costings viable. If the Brum company can get the show on the road without the extra complication of a brown-goods orentated 3rd party this can only be better for our service industry. I for one would not like to be tied into a contract for one sole work provider. The DASA network sounds the best way forward, giving us all chance to not only to partake in but to have a say in the way forward in the white goods repair industry.
