Sorry that should be red and blue loose wires.

In th last two months with this machine the main heater element went! a call out about 120 Euro
The service man also reduced a cable strain on the dryer element (bad design or assembly) and re-programmed the eprom.
Four weeks later the dryer element had a leak to earth tripped the mains I fixed that . It would have cost another 120 outside the 21 days
A few weeks ago the blade on the dryer fan came loose and resulted in the thermal cut out going open circuit I fixed that otherwise another 120 and now I need to replace the e-prom or the control board 120.
The machine is less than two years old are these faults normal?.
I cannot understand why a main board like this should fail there are many fail safe designs to contol glitches in electronic circuits which may effect eproms.
Thanks to the forum for all their help.

This is really crazy but I have another problem with this darn machine. Its locked in a loop!!!
The On Off light is flashing. The Drying High Heat and Time Saver are also flashing. (thats 1 and 4 top to bottom of the lights). I checked the main heater elment it and all the components in the dryer box are ok .The pump seems to be on all the time. Is this a blockage or something more serious help!!!!!

    Hi
The problem was as suggested the fan was slipping on its bushing. I had difficulty tightening the nut to secure the fan .The locking device was not
secure in the plastic moulding and hence it was difficult to lock the nut!!.
Again thanks for the help 😛 .

    Hi Jim
Thanks for your reply .I replace the dryer element just over a month ago on this machine and cleaned out any loose material from the dryer box .
It worked ok until this TOC cut out .
Questions: Is it easy to locate and clean the condenser on this machine ,I assume its after the dryer box? Is the fan 220v I could check it out if I had its voltage rating.

    Hi
If I could explain this dryer element was not broken when the service engineer came only the leads were tight (bad manufacture) he came to replace the main washer element not the dryer element
the leads only to this now broken element were replaced
    as they were under strain.

    Re: HOTPOINT WD440 MORE PROBLEMS

The problem is solved the heater element has a leak to earth there was too much tension on the leads to the element . The element is quiet loose in the dryer unit I can move it up and down as if something came loose in the dryer box. I have not completed the repair or looked in the box . When the service engineer came three weeks ago to replace the main heater element in the washer he also extended the leads to the dryer element which is now bust .
Another 120 if I call back the service engineer as its a new problem?.

I looked at the heater element and it is open circuit!!!
There is what looks like a silver thermistor or thermal cut out switch inserted in the heater is this removable.
Is it easy job to replace the heating element ?

    Re: HOTPOINT WD440P

    😀 Thanks
for your prompt reply I assume the heater heats the water until it reaches a fixed temp and then the cycle continues .I will take your welcome advice and look at the heater element.
My experience with this machine is not good!!! 👿
    Regards
    Joe
