If I don’t want to buy separates or a USA style side by side and settle for a normal fridge freezer with a fairly large capacity, are there any models which are very reliable and reasonably priced ?

No the noise is not constant. It does go off as its meant to.
Its just warm inside as if the thermostat is not working !

Thanks very much guys. Really helpful advice. Hadn’t thought of 2 seperates side by side. Seems these water/ice dispenser models are poor unless you pay big money.

No Dave I don’t believe it is. Just seems to make the normal fridge compressor noise. No more or less than usual.

Many thanks again Dave. My wifes dad is an engineer (not on these but things in general) so I’ll get him to have a look. He has fixed a dishwasher before now. If not, I’ll find an expert from the link you gave me.

In answer to your question, Yes, I have left it on for long enough to check the reverse action. Could this be a seperate problem then ?
And why would a faulty heating element mean the light stays on ?
It just all seems linked to that light !
